Stay hungry, stay foolish...

Not too much to say about this really - except that you should watch it! I was completely inspired when I read Steve Jobs speech yesterday that I looked it up because I wanted to share it!

"...I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: If today were the last day of my life, would I do what I am about to do today? Whenever the answer has been "no" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something"

Blood is the New Black Fall 2011 video!

Check out the new Blood is the New Black Fall collection video. So many great new prints from so many great artists...so good!

Don't know about Blood is the New Black?

In 2004 designer and line curator Mitra Khayyam set out to accomplish three goals with the start of her T-shirt line Blood is the New Black:

1.       Display the works of emerging artists, designers and photographers in order to propel their careers and support the underground art movement, through design collaborations
2.        Introduce fans of both fashion and the arts to new designers, photographers and illustrators, to whom otherwise consumers may have not been exposed
3.       Create a line that is wearable, comfortable and stylish, yet has an opinion
BITNB encourages the public to explore current art and design trends by prominently featuring the work of underground artists, photographers and illustrators on the company’s soft, well-fitted T-shirts and products.
Those daring enough to wear BITNB products, instantly become a walking canvas and conversation piece.

Blood is the New Black collaborates with artists such as Bobby Whigham, Brendan Donnelly, BrianLichtenberg, Bryan Ray Turcotte, Caris Reid, Dan Monick, Demonbabies, Keren Richter and SO MANY MORE!!!

Elizabeth Gilbert on nurturing creativity

Eat, Prey, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert talks on TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design - idea's worth spreading) about ideals of genius in history and contemporary society, living up to expectations as a creative and how she copes with and nurtures her creative pressures after the success of her book, Eat, Prey, Love.

I found Gilbert's discussion very worthwhile as she raises some interesting points that challenge what we accept. Her clear points and structured conversation was all encompassing, informative and really got me thinking! Take a look...

AND if you haven't checked out the TED website - go to it now HERE and spread the TED!!

Fire in Babylon

What an inspiring film, I am not a cricket enthusiast at the best of times so when the opportunity presented to see Fire in Babylon, as part of the Revelation Film Festival I must admit I was vacillant, but not having seen a film in some time thought it would be interesting to step outside of my comfort zone. Not only did the film manage to hold my attention for it's duration but I walked out feeling inspired and a whole lot wiser about the West Indian cricket team.

No other team dominated their sport for 15 years - and would we know it?

"Fire In Babylon is the breathtaking story of how the West Indies triumphed over its colonial masters through the achievements of one of the most gifted teams in sporting history.

In a turbulent era of apartheid in South Africa; race riots in England and civil unrest in the Caribbean, the West Indian cricketers, led by the enigmatic Viv Richards, struck a defiant blow at the forces of white prejudice worldwide. Their undisputed skill, combined with a fearless spirit, allowed them to dominate the genteel game at the highest level, replaying it on their own terms.

This is their story, told in their own words"

I urge you to see Fire in Babylon for if not inspiration, knowledge and historical reference then at least for the really cool Rastafarian music and great 70's fashion!
